A white car, just like everyone else’s.
But this one is different.
This one has a woman screaming in the front seat.
What’s wrong?
Would you care, or just wonder
For a brief moment in time
Before you move on with your life
And leave hers behind.

If you were asked to recall
What had happened,
Could you?

Would you say that the car was white?
Would you remember that there were two little children
Hiding themselves in the back seat
As she drove headlong through traffic
Headed towards the bridge.
Would you see that she was crying
And not in fact crazy or on substance?
Would you have recalled
The blood stain on her steering wheel
Or that she was glowing
With her hands shaking
Putting the cigarette burner to her skin?

What would you recall?
